Rule of Thirds

This is a guideline used in the composition of a successful shot. The frame is divided into thirds horizontally and vertically using imaginary lines. The general rule is that a point of interest should be placed one-third, or two-thirds down the frame, rather than in the centre. For example, a person’s eyes are usually the point of interest and so they would be placed on the line that is one-third the way down the frame.
